Skate decks

Skate boards are made up of nearly seven layers of maple wood to make it strong and durable. Initially, when you are choosing the deck for skate boarding, choose width that is slightly narrower than your foot. The skate board widths usually range from 7.5″ to 8.5″. This is barring long boards, cruisers and miniature skate boards.

Remember, the wide boards may be stable but do not give the room for tricks. However, narrower boards are less stable but more preferred for tricks.

Next, choose the wheel base which determines the radius for easier turning on the board. If you have short legs, you will want a narrower wheel base. If you have longer legs, you will prefer the wheel base to give you more turning radius.

The shape can be concave which improves the tricks because the board is bent on the sides. Lesser concave boards or flat boards should be used if you want to start doing flip tricks.

For strengthening, do a weight training using exercise equipments.
